GREEN PRINTING
Ideas and Tips
With all the talk these days about going green, it's worth considering the impact of your printed output. Not only is it being environmentally conscious, but it makes good business sense. We've gathered a few tips worth considering before you print your next document. These are simple things that can have a big impact, especially when combined. Remember, "going green" requires not only products with built-in eco-friendly functionality, but also a change in our personal mindset and usage behavior.
- Duplex printing - This allows you to print on both sides of a piece of paper, automatically. It comes installed or as an option on many of our printers.
- N-up printing - Found within the software driver, this functionality allows you to print multiple pages of documents on a single page, reducing paper usage.
- MFPs - Consolidate your devices and tasks into a single multifunction printer, saving energy, space, etc.
- Electronic Data Management - Software that lets you scan to email and other destinations, bypassing the need for paper output.
- Web Print Utility - Our own web browser utility for OKI printers that fits webpage content to a single page wide-reducing paper waste.
- Toner Save - This function (found in the printer driver) allows you to print in draft mode that uses less toner.
- Power Save Mode - OKI printers come automatically configured to go into "sleep mode" after a certain amount of time being idle, thus reducing energy consumption. The printer will automatically come out of sleep mode when a print job is sent.
- Energy Star® Compliance - many OKI printers and MFPs meet the requirements for energy efficiency of this recognized standard. Check the product brochure for details.
- Paper recycling - It's simple but often forgotten. Keep in mind that much of what we print on a daily basis is what we often treat as "disposable", meaning it's typically used for a short period of time and then thrown away. Simply putting this paper in a recyclable paper bin can have a bigger positive impact than you might think. Check with your company or local municipality for recycling details.
