Marking the third year of the Color Me OKI philanthropic program, OKI Data Americas, a leading printer and MFP manufacturer, will provide fresh elements and a new method of outreach to help with early detection of breast and colorectal cancers. The Color Me OKI program acquired the classic 1946 Mercury Woody Wagon[1], an iconic symbol of the surfer era, to add to the program’s fleet of vintage vehicles representing the program’s drive to survive. In addition, the program proudly announces its newest initiative, postcards for prevention, which were created to remind loved ones of the importance of colorectal screenings and mammograms. The program will also continue to offer photo opportunities with the vehicles of hope, which are printed on OKI Printing Solutions digital color printers and provided in keepsake frames.
The Color Me OKI (www.colormeoki.com) philanthropic program launched in April of 2007 with the “Twin Sister,” 1955 Pink Cadillac Fleetwood1 as its backbone. The vintage vehicle was personally restored by OKI Data Americas President and CEO, Stewart Krentzman, and his wife Bonnie, to become an exact replica of the 1955 Pink Cadillac that Elvis gave to his mother. The “Twin Sister” was joined by the 1950’s Automotive Classic1 in 2008 to expand the program’s support of the fight against breast cancer. In addition, the program expanded to support colorectal cancer, an easily treatable disease if detected early. For the third year of the program, the classic 1946 Mercury Woody Wagon1 has joined the fleet encouraging those battling diseases to catch a wave of hope. The vintage vehicle will be accompanied by a Beach Boys Tribute Band to add an element of celebration and amusement at fundraising events.
In addition, the Color Me OKI program will be providing prevention postcards at breast and colorectal cancer fundraisers for attendees to mail to loved ones, reminding them of the importance of early detection. The postcards for prevention, which are printed on OKI Printing Solutions C9650 digital color printers, include statistics from the American Cancer Society and encouraging words to help remind friends and family to take care of their health by scheduling essential yearly appointments, such as colonoscopies and mammograms.
“Since Color Me OKI launched in 2007, we have had the opportunity to touch millions of lives as the program’s vintage vehicles help create lasting memories while becoming symbols of hope and inspiration for those battling breast and colorectal cancer,” said OKI Data Americas’ President and CEO Stewart Krentzman. “It’s important to our employees that we continue supporting all those courageously battling these diseases and further expand the program to help communicate the importance of early detection.”
The Color Me OKI (www.colormeoki.com) philanthropic program uniquely pairs vintage vehicles with live entertainment to help support and celebrate the lives of those who were taken and raise awareness of two diseases that have become all too familiar with families, friends and in the community. The two vintage pink Cadillacs were restored to support the breast cancer cause, representing the rebuilding process women must go through when restoring their mind, body and souls after battling breast cancer. The classic 1946 Mercury Woody Wagon1, an iconic symbol of the surfer era, was acquired to encourage those battling both diseases to catch a wave of hope and live life to the fullest.
“When we first launched the Color Me OKI program, we were determined to help celebrate the lives of those touched by diseases that affect our families, friends and those in the community,” said Krentzman. We pride ourselves on the level of personalized service we offer our customers and that same level of commitment is also given to supporting breast and colorectal cancers in efforts to help celebrate all those battling these diseases.”
The program supports the corporate philanthropic mission of Oki Electric Industry Company, Ltd., the Tokyo, Japan-based parent company of OKI Data Corporation, which is to undertake social contribution activities that help realize the genuine enrichment of society, and contribute to the quality of life for people around the world.
