New Solution to Assign Color Printing Privileges for Specific Web Sites is Announced by OKI Printing Solutions, Brings a More Flexible Solution to Businesses

OKI Data Americas, which markets its products under the OKI® Printing Solutions brand, today announced its new Color Access Policy Manager. The cost-saving solution allows for the configuration of color printers with a set of rules that control which documents will be printed in color or in black-and-white, based on user name, application, document name and even websites.
Currently offered with the C9650 Series and the recently launched C3600, C6050, C6150 and C710 Series from OKI Printing Solutions, the Color Access Policy Manager allows color printers to be cost-effectively deployed and utilized. Department managers and network administrators are able to provide access to color printers and establish boundaries for color usage that correlates to their business needs and budgets.

With Color Access Policy Manager, administrators can control the use of color printing based on the user login name, application, host name, document name or website URL. The utility can monitor printer usage by reviewing the recent history of a printer’s job logs, as well as create and manage policies stored in the printer that are used to establish rules for controlling when color is applied. These enhanced features help businesses maximize budgets and better streamline workflow.
How it works
Color Access Policy Manager is simple to integrate into existing workflow processes. Administrators easily:
- Use the new utility to review printer utilization and to create a set of rules that define when color printing is allowed. Details from previous print jobs, such as user name, document name or URL are easily incorporated into a color control policy for a more cost-efficient printing environment.
- The policy is downloaded to a compatible printer, including the C9650, C3600, C6050, C6150 and C710 Series from OKI Printing Solutions.
- As the printer receives print jobs, it compares the jobs’ attributes against the policy stored in the printer. Jobs are rejected, converted to monochrome or allowed to print in color based on the policy.
The digital color printers utilizing the new Color Access Policy Manager are available and sold exclusively through OKI Printing Solutions authorized solution providers and direct marketing resellers in the US, Canada, and Latin America.
